A Few Words from - Terry Bassett.. |

|

I was born just after the Second World War, in England's Derbyshire Peak District, and spent much of my formative years on the Hill Farm shown above.
|
Since those happy, childhood days, life's path has taken me from the hot dry deserts of the Middle East to the steaming Eastern Jungles; from the snowy wastes of Scandinavia to the sweltering heat of Africa; around Cape Horn in a roaring gale and onto the beaches of Australia's Gold Coast; and on and on...... |

|
Such travels have allowed me to see much our small World; the good and the beautiful, the bad and the ugly. Throughout it all, I have never lost my enjoyment of art. |
Now, as a Brit who has finally settled in America's Carolinas...
.... time allows me to paint much more.
I hope that each of my creative works will stimulate its beholder to sense a little of that which remains unseen; (those small, magical fragments of the individual artist which inevitably find their way into every work), and that this insight may encourage visitors to bring a piece of my art into their personal environment. |
I believe that Art can sometimes tease the 'awe and shudder' in one's psyche and, in doing so, bring a little closer the touch of that which may be considered grace. If my creation does this for its beholder, in any small way, then I have not failed in my intent. |
My original works and prints hang in many collections around the World. |
A favourite quote: "I was drifting sand in the wind of the world's anger. It is just fate that has brought me back alive." - [TU FU, CHINESE (721-770)]
